I was driving down the highway the other day when I saw a swarm of black birds in the sky above me. Two hundred different sets of wings but all moving together like one. I love when nature stops me in my tracks to give some necessary perspective. It made me think about being one of those birds in the flock.
You know when you get caught up in the craziness of life and don’t seem to have enough time to plan where you should be going or what you should be doing next? You follow the crowd and let them give you direction because you don’t have the time or energy to set that direction yourself.
I mean…what if that lead bird was heading north rather than south and the rest of the flock was just following blindly?
If you’re a busy business owner, one of the last things you focus on is marketing. You heard you HAD to have a website so you put one up but didn’t really think about what it should be doing for you. Or maybe someone told you social media is the next big thing, so you created a profile on Facebook and Twitter but can’t write a tweet to save your life much less your business.
Bandwagon marketing tactics don’t work just because everybody’s doing it. Because one marketing tactic worked for your neighbor, doesn’t guarantee it will work for you.
