Mid-West Family Broadcasting announced today it will purchase the Schurz Communications radio stations in South Bend, Indiana as part of that company’s pending broadcast asset sale to Gray Television, Inc. When the sale is approved, Mid-West Family Broadcasting will operate more than 40 radio stations as well as digital and local event marketing platforms in eight markets including Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin.
Mid-West Family Broadcasting has been in Southwest Michigan since 1958 and looking for ways to operate in the South Bend market for many years. The family owned and operated Schurz Communications will integrate well with the Mid-West Family vision.
Gray Television, Inc. and Schurz Communications had agreed to a sale of all Schurz Communications’ radio properties. In recent weeks, Gray Television, Inc. decided to shift the sale of the radio properties to experienced radio broadcasters. Mid-West Family Marketing will purchase the radio properties in South Bend, Indiana, Neuhoff Communications will purchase the radio properties in Lafayette, Indiana and The HomeSlice Group based in Sturgis, North Dakota will purchase the Rapid City, ND radio properties.
The stations in South Bend, Indiana that will become part of Mid-West Family Broadcasting include:
WNSN – Sunny 101.5, South Bend, IN
WSBT – 960AM/96.1FM, South Bend, IN
WHFB – New Country 99.9, South Bend, IN
WZOC – Z94.3, South Bend, IN
More than 40 owned and operated stations currently fall under the Mid-West Family Broadcasting umbrella in St. Joseph/Benton Harbor/South Haven, MI, Madison, WI, La Crosse, WI, Springfield, MO, and Springfield, IL.
